We live in the rural Highlands of Scotland, so I’m used to things getting complicated when ordering stuff online. Most companies either add extra charges after you’ve paid, or they go quiet when they realise where you live. But ordering direct from Mammotion was totally hassle-free. The Luba arrived on time, with proper tracking updates, and no delivery drama at all — which is rare for us.

Getting it set up was way easier than I expected. I installed the charging station, opened the app, and it instantly found the Inavi service through 4G — so I didn’t even need to bother with the RTK station. I just picked Inavi, mapped out the first area, and off it went. I was honestly surprised how well the 4G signal holds up — we’re on a hill with patchy signal at the best of times, but Luba hasn’t missed a beat. It’s never lost connection or skipped areas.

Now, our place isn’t a flat lawn. It’s more of an old croft — the garden slopes down from the roadside right to the shore, across several different levels. We've got terraces, steep sections, gravel paths, benches, planters, and everything in between. It’s probably about a 10-metre drop from top to bottom. I was pretty sure Luba wouldn’t manage some of the slopes — I kept the strimmer ready just in case. But to my surprise, it’s been totally unfazed. Genuinely. It just goes up and down without slipping or getting stuck, even where I thought it had no chance.

We've split the garden into 11 mowing zones, and the channel feature is brilliant. Luba can leave its charging station, drive up a path, over the car park, up the drive, take a tight left turn in front of the house, then a sharp right onto a gravel path — and then start mowing. When it’s done, it makes the whole trip back down to the charger. The mowing area is actually higher up than the charging station, but it climbs and returns without any trouble. It even handles gravel better than I expected — doesn’t spin, doesn’t struggle, just keeps going.

The terrain is rough in places — bumpy, mossy, and full of awkward dips and slopes. But the suspension really smooths it out. And marking off rocky patches with no-go zones is dead simple through the app.

Best of all? It hasn’t once got itself into bother. No calls for help, no mid-job resets — it just gets on with it. Quiet, reliable, and surprisingly clever.

I’ll be honest — I was pretty sceptical. It’s a big purchase, and I was fully expecting to be disappointed or constantly fiddling with it. But a month in, I’m seriously impressed. It’s handled everything I’ve thrown at it, and the app keeps getting better with updates.

If you’ve got a sloped or awkward garden and you’re wondering if Luba can manage — from what I’ve seen so far, absolutely yes. (And its really easy to clean)

My last 3 wheel robot kept getting stuck on my sloping, rough ground. This one has not got stuck once. Also, a relief not to have the wires to worry about which were getting chewed up by various visiting animals.

I don’t normally write reviews. The Mammotion Luba 2 has been transformational. Great at cutting, copes with difficult terrain, works at night, leaves great stripes on the lawn and is easy to look after. A big recommendation to anyone with a complicated undulating lawn.

Received this bad boy and it's straight to work fixing a rough uneven lawn with very few complaints. A little bit of a learning curve for both of us understanding what it can and cannot handle but getting there.
